Job Description

Java Integration Developer (12 month contract)

Location: Remote, BC

Staffing Placement Opportunity

Services Required

The Java Integration Developer will be part of a high-performing agile team supporting the design and development of an enterprise API Gateway solution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based integrations using Spring Integration, Apache Camel, or Camel K
  • Design and develop APIs using FHIR standards and the HAPI FHIR framework, including writing interceptors and resource providers
  • Implement data integration patterns, including ETL processes and messaging solutions
  • Build and deploy applications using Docker containers and Kubernetes
  • Develop authorization logic using JavaScript
  • Collaborate in all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Analyze, develop, install, modify, and support complex software solutions with high interoperability and adherence to FHIR coding standards
  • Independently code, debug, revise, and document complex components to ensure secure and optimized functionality
  • Maintain configuration changes and customizations in version-controlled environments (e.g., GitHub, TestRail)
  • Perform data mapping between FHIR and other data sources
  • Provide application administration, production support, root cause analysis, and issue resolution
  • Work with operations teams and provide documentation and training on system usage
  • Troubleshoot integration issues related to APIs and messaging
  • Provide technical consulting and subject matter expertise to development, testing, and business teams
  • Identify, communicate, and implement best practices in design and development
  • Adhere to service level agreements, established processes, and delivery standards

Value-Added Experience

  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate application and infrastructure build, testing, and deployment processes

Required Qualifications And Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in DevOps and cloud engineering environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong experience with web technologies and API development using REST, FHIR, Java, JavaScript, Spring Framework, and FHIR programming frameworks
  • Experience developing and securing web services
  • Experience with AWS and Azure cloud environments
  • Experience with container-based development and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines and continuous deployment practices
  • Experience with FHIR resource development, transformation, and validation within healthcare IT
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and version control tools
  • Experience developing high-quality, testable code and writing unit tests
  • Experience using Git, including GitHub Actions
  • Strong API development skills
  • Experience integrating with third-party back-end APIs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong interest in emerging technologies and trends in healthcare IT
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
