Job Description
Our Global Workplace and Enterprise Services (GWES) team provides a safe, compliant, and reliable workplace environment that supports research, operations, and business continuity while protecting colleagues, communities, and the environment.
The GWES Building Landlord serves as the operational representative for assigned buildings and acts as the primary point of contact for facilities-related services, issue resolution, and service prioritization. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Master Planning, this role is accountable for helping ensure buildings remain safe, compliant, functional, efficient, and fit for purpose through effective coordination of facility operations, stakeholder communication, and service governance.
This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Master Planning, Environment, Health and Safety, project teams, and Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) providers to assess building needs, support service delivery, coordinate vendor and contractor activities, and maintain alignment with site priorities, budget expectations, and regulatory requirements. The role also contributes to facility readiness, outage and shutdown communication, inspection and audit support, data quality, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience and building performance.
Consistent with a landlord-led facilities operating model, the Building Landlord owns the customer interface and supports building-level prioritization and service assurance for assigned areas, while execution is performed in partnership with internal teams and external service providers. The role requires sound judgment, strong stakeholder management, and a customer-focused approach to maintaining a responsive, business-oriented facility environment.
Primary Activities
Primary activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as the day-to-day contact for assigned buildings by responding to occupant needs, assessing issues in the field, and routing work to the appropriate team or provider.
Support safety, environmental, and compliance activities by participating in inspections, audits, risk reviews, permit coordination, and change control processes.
Partner with IFM team to coordinate routine facilities services such as janitorial, grounds, waste, security, laboratory, and space-related support to help keep buildings safe, clean, and operational.
Assess facility issues and non-routine requests, clarify scope and ownership, enter or follow work requests in the appropriate systems, and ensure timely follow-up.
Coordinate non IFM vendor and contractor activities by supporting site access, work readiness, scheduling communication, permit needs, and completion follow-up.
Lead or support building inspections, mechanical room checks, facility tours, housekeeping follow-up, pest management, and general readiness activities.
Partner with site teams on outages, shutdowns, construction impacts, and project activities to support communication, coordination, and building readiness.
Support budget planning and financial stewardship by tracking service needs, coordinating procurement steps, and maintaining awareness of costs within scope.
Identify service gaps and recurring issues and support practical improvements that enhance facility performance and customer experience.
Maintain building data, service records, and documentation to support reporting, communication, strategic building planning and day-to-day facilities governance.
