Position Summary: Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Communications and Marketing, this position supports the implementation of communications plans and social media strategy for McGill Athletics - Varsity. The candidate would be providing communications services, including but not limited to, creating social media content, assisting with website management, organizing digital assets and creating videos. Working in a fast-paced, team environment, the incumbent is expected to deliver accurate, effective and efficient customer service while providing a welcoming, positive and professional image for McGill Athletics and McGill University. Primary Responsibilities: Produce engaging content on social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter for a targeted Varsity audience. Develop and produce content calendars, in coordination with the digital team. In conjunction with the digital team, expected to create engaging and entertaining graphics intended to promote Varsity games. Develop on-site live social media coverage (Instagram stories, etc.) Recruit, hire, and supervise approximately 3 casual hires who will work throughout the varsity seasons. Perform photo and video archiving. In collaboration with the Communications Officer, work closely with various organizing committees to develop and execute digital media strategies leading up to and including live Varsity games, major events and championships. Liaise with coaches and/or student-athletes to identify and address promotional needs of each team. Assist with Varsity promotional days and/or events. Work on-site alongside staff from various areas of Athletics, expected to ensure that events run smoothly, when necessary, addressing issues and providing solutions. Update and/or develop digital content for the McGill Athletics Varsity webpage. Highlight, promote and encourage involvement in the Women in Sport program through the content developed and material created Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, content management systems, and digital communications tools. Experienced in crafting and overseeing the production of high-quality, engaging digital content for diverse audiences. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Express) and Canva for graphics/content editing. Strong communication, organizational and planning skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines in a structured environment. Must be available to work some weeknights and weekends, as required. Bilingual in French and English.
