Position Overview 

The Land Development Engineering lead for the Orlando (ORL) or Tampa (TPA) metro will spearhead the growth, direction, and performance of McAdams’ Land Development Design practice. This leader will build and sustain strong relationships with private developers, municipal partners, and key regional stakeholders across Central Florida, while leading a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team delivering exceptional residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.  

As Lead, you'll be accountable for operational excellence, project delivery quality, and business development results, ensuring consistent execution aligned with McAdams’ standards, culture, and long-term strategic objectives. This role also champions talent development—coaching, mentoring, and expanding the team to support growth, elevate technical excellence, and strengthen McAdams’ presence in the ORL market.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the strategic direction, vision, and growth of the ORL Land Development practice.  
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with Central Florida developers, landowners, municipalities, and reviewing agencies.  
  • Proactively identify new business opportunities and lead pursuit strategies for major development projects.  
  • Oversee execution of large-scale, multi-disciplinary land development projects with strong project controls and financial performance.  
  • Ensure predictable project outcomes through effective scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.  
  • Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing teams to support long-term practice growth.  
  • Mentor staff and promote a collaborative, learning-focused environment that supports career development.  
  • Drive operational excellence, resource planning, and compliance with company standards and industry regulations.  

Skills + Experience  

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in land development engineering  
  • Proven leadership delivering large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects 
  • Strong credibility with Central Florida developers, municipalities, and regulatory agencies  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and complex project portfolios 
  • Experience in business development and growing a regional practice 
  • Excellent communication, leadership presence, and emotional intelligence

  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
