Senior Account Executive — PR & Communications
Matte PR is a Toronto-based communications consultancy working at the intersection of design, culture, lifestyle and business.
Matte PR is seeking a Senior Account Executive to join our Toronto-based communications consultancy. This role is suited to a practitioner who can execute thoughtful communications programs, cultivate media relationships, and collaborate with leadership on long-term brand storytelling.
We work with brands across lifestyle, design, hospitality, real estate and finance. Our approach is editorial, relationship-driven, and focused on building cultural relevance over time rather than chasing short-term noise.

The Role
This role is suited to a communications professional with 3–5 years of PR agency experience who is ready to deepen their involvement in both strategy and execution.
The position offers a clear pathway toward Account Manager responsibilities as the agency continues to grow. You will work closely with the agency’s founder, contributing to strategy, media outreach, and client programs while gaining direct exposure to how communications campaigns are developed and executed.

Responsibilities
- Execute PR programs across assigned client accounts
- Contribute to client communications and day-to-day account coordination
- Develop story angles and support proactive media outreach
- Pitch editors and journalists while cultivating strong media relationships
- Draft press materials, including releases, briefing notes, and media pitches
- Build and maintain thoughtful, targeted media lists
- Monitor earned media coverage and track campaign performance
- Support launches, press previews, and key brand moments
- Coordinate interviews, media requests and follow-ups
- Ensure messaging and materials reflect each client’s brand voice and positioning
- Collaborate on integrated campaigns spanning earned media, content, and social channels
- Maintain project timelines and ensure programs move forward with clarity and momentum
- Stay attuned to shifts in media, culture, and design that may inform client storytelling
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience within an agency environment
- A focused, organized communicator who keeps projects moving with care and attention to detail
- Experience working across multiple clients or projects simultaneously
- A strong writer with an instinct for tone, storytelling, and media relevance
- Interested in building meaningful relationships with editors, producers, and journalists
- Comfortable working with digital tools and evolving technologies that support modern communications work
- Possess an eye for design and visual storytelling, with an understanding of how imagery and presentation shape brand narratives
- You are culturally aware and attuned to shifts in media, design, and culture and understand how they shape brand storytelling
- Collaborative, curious, and eager to continue developing your strategic perspective
- Genuinely interested in design, culture, lifestyle, real estate, finance and creative industries
Above all, you understand that strong PR is built through clarity, consistency, and long-term relationships. You bring thoughtful judgment to your work and appreciate the role timing, discretion, and strong relationships play in effective communications.
Work Structure & Compensation
- Hybrid work model (mix of in-office and remote)
- Salary range: $65,000–$75,000, based on experience
