Canada Summer Job, One position

Expected start date: 2026-06-15

End date: 2026-08-07 (8 weeks), 30 hours per week

Report to: Youth Pastor at Markham Peoples Community Church

Position Summary

Reporting to the VBS Summer Camp Director, the Graphic Designer will produce customized graphics packages, take photos and video records of daily Summer Camp activities, create posters, newsletters, and pre-camp promotion. He/she is expected to work effectively with the Summer Camp Directors, Supervisors, peers, participants, and the public.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in development of MPCC social media platforms, summer camp promotion materials and teaching resources:

1) Design all flyers and collaterals for the projects

2) Design teaching materials for Summer Camp

3) Create content for the social media and website to raise the visibility of MPCC

4) Post project pictures and videos in an on-going manner to keep audience’ attention and call to action.

5) Produce social media report throughout the period and at the end of the projects

6) Must have own hardware and software

7) Other tasks assigned by the Supervisor

Preferred Education Post Secondary education, certificate, diploma or bachelor degree in graphic design, social media, marketing, journalism/communications or related disciplines

Qualifications and Skills

· Must be fluent in any digital media editing platform, including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Character Animator.

· Knowledge of After Effects is an asset.

· Must have valid photography and videography experience.

· Preference given to those applicants with previous experience within a camp setting.

· Bible knowledge is a must for this position.

Work Experience

1 year to 2 years of design experience

Work Hours

Full-time, 8 weeks fixed term contract

Expected hours: 30 per week

Schedule: Schedule: Monday to Friday; Weekends as needed

Working Conditions

In Person; Normal office environment.

As a condition of employment, a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check

What youth participants are eligible? To be eligible, youth must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
  • *International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.

International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

Pay: $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 per week
