\r\n\r\nJob Description\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe Opportunity:\r\n\r\nAs part of Maple Leaf Food’s Operations team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs, policies, systems and reports for the Heritage Plant. This position will ensure legislative and Plant compliance with occupational health and safety by “on the floor” involvement with operations. This position will include but not limited to; assisting in the development of safe work procedures, training, claims management and assessing/controlling risk to reduce/eliminate accidents/incidents which cause personal injury and/or property damage. The goal of this position will be to standardize safe work methods and recognize high impact behaviours to achieve a world class health and safety program. The successful candidate will be involved in all Health & Safety activities related to the Heritage Plant. \r\n \r\n\r\nAny MLF team member interested in being considered for this role are encouraged to apply online by April 30. Applications received beyond that date are not guaranteed consideration.\r\n \r\n\r\nReason for vacancy: Incremental Headcount\r\nBase Salary: $58,000 – $87,000 CAD base pay annually\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nSnapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tDevelops and constructs Safe Work Procedures (SWP) identifying the basic job steps and tasks and their associated hazards and risks and develops safe operating procedures and hazard controls towards sustaining our OHS maturity and growth.\r\n\tResponsible for enforcing the businesses Golden Rules and other site programs through cross functional team meetings.\r\n\tMaintain OHS metrics and documentation with the ability to present this information to applicable parties\r\n\tDesign and deliver training programs for workers, management, and Safety Committee members to comply with legislative requirements and improve Health, Safety, Emergency and Security.\r\n\tAssist in the reduction of Health and Safety risks and hazards through onsite behavioral observations and targeted audits\r\n\tSupport Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs) for installation of a new equipment, structure, protective element or process, or modifications to an existing apparatus, structure, protective element, or process; such reports are to detail the measures (steps, actions, or engineering controls) necessary to bring the construction, addition, installation or modification into compliance with the applicable regulations.\r\n\tReview and monitor on-site Contractor OHS programs and compliance with applicable regulations.\r\n\tRespond to and provide support in accident response, including first aid and support proper investigation and follow up is completed.\r\n\tSupport emergency management activities including drills, tabletop exercises, evacuation support and respond to support the incident command structure in the event of an actual emergency.\r\n\tMaintains content and data analysis of supporting software for the site programs under the purview of the department, including and not limited to SAP, iWarehouse, iNet, Alchemy Sistems, and other PPE or vendor specific platforms.\r\n\tMaintain records and documentation for all programs under your purview. \r\n\tAbility to ensure integrity of data and confidentiality of employee information\r\n\tAbility to support and influence multiple levels of management within an organization\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat You’ll Bring:\r\n\r\n\r\n\t3-5 years of experience in progressively responsible H&S roles\r\n\tPrevious experience working supporting a large client group in a fast-paced environment within specified time frames is an asset\r\n\tExcellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential\r\n\tKnowledge of compliance and regulatory training of all personnel working onsite\r\n\tComputer proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software – MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point & Outlook\r\n\tPrevious experience working with regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of Labour or Ministry of the Environment would be an asset\r\n\tKnowledge in WSIB claims management would be considered an asset\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat We Offer at Maple Leaf Foods:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBeing part of a high-performance, people-focused company that has an inspiring and unique vision to become the most sustainable protein company on earth, and a deep commitment to sustainable protein across North America.\r\n\tAn inclusive company culture and a work environment that keeps our people safe, rewards excellence, and empowers everyone to learn and contribute their best. \r\n\tCompetitive Health and Wellness benefits that offer flexibility to meet your individual or family needs, including programs focused on improving mental health and wellbeing.
