Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical
Senior Financial Analyst
to join the Technology & Information Services (TIS) team within Gas Distribution. This role supports financial planning, reporting, and performance management, partnering closely with stakeholders to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver timely and accurate financial analysis and insights on operational and financial performance to TIS stakeholders
- Partner with business leaders to support the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, including both labour and non-labour cost planning
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across TIS reporting systems
- Lead and coordinate monthly accrual processes to support accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and present monthly reporting packages (Budget vs. Forecast vs. Actuals), including variance analysis and recommended mitigation strategies
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions and strategic initiatives
- Standardize and enhance financial analytics and reporting processes across the TIS function
- Support compliance with SOX controls, audit requirements, and regulatory reporting obligations
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline financial reporting and planning activities
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or business performance analytics
- Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills
- Experience handling large datasets and translating findings into clear business insights
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Preferred
- Professional designation (CPA, CMA, CA, CGA) or MBA
- Experience supporting IT or technology functions (Technology Finance experience is an asset)
- Understanding of financial controls, regulatory environments, and reporting requirements
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Demonstrated experience improving processes and driving efficiencies
