ROLE OVERVIEW

Makeup by Mario is seeking passionate, high-energy Freelance Makeup Artists to support and grow the business across Western Canada. This role is designed for individuals with a strong selling mentality, a passion for artistry, and the ability to execute at a high level in a fast-paced retail environment. This is a selling role first and an artistry role second. We are looking for individuals who thrive in-store, know how to drive sales through execution, build strong relationships, and operate with an entrepreneurial mindset. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, results-driven, open to feedback, and excited to represent Makeup by Mario while delivering exceptional client experiences. Freelance Makeup Artists will support key business-driving initiatives including selling support, education, launches, events, and relationship building while partnering closely with Sephora leadership and teams to drive sales and brand awareness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Business Execution

• Drive sales growth and productivity while achieving SPH and overarching sales targets.
• Execute strong in-store selling behaviors through client engagement, shade matching, artistry application, and add-on selling.
• Proactively create selling opportunities and deliver elevated client experiences.
• Maintain strong product knowledge and confidently communicate brand storytelling and key product benefits.
• Represent Makeup by Mario with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a strong brand presence.

Sephora Partnership & Relationship Building

• Build strong relationships with Sephora store leadership and Beauty Advisors.
• Support education moments through impactful selling and product knowledge.
• Partner with Sephora teams to drive brand awareness and create excitement around launches and key initiatives.
• Work shoulder-to-shoulder with store teams to deliver exceptional service and business results.

Events & Activations

• Support brand events, launches, takeovers, and additional activations.
• Create excitement around new launches and promotional periods.
• Ensure all client interactions reflect Makeup by Mario's commitment to artistry and exceptional service.
• Support operational execution and maintain brand standards in-store.

Operations & Communication

• Maintain clear communication with field leadership and store teams.
• Adapt quickly to changing business needs and retail priorities.
• Demonstrate strong time management, professionalism, and accountability.
• Maintain consistent attendance and reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience within Sephora and/or prestige beauty retail preferred.
• Experience as a freelancer, brand representative, artist, or beauty advisor preferred.
• Strong selling ability and confidence working directly with clients in a retail environment.
• Comfortable performing makeup applications and shade matching services.
• Passion for Makeup by Mario, beauty, artistry, and delivering elevated client experiences.
• Results-driven mindset with strong personal accountability.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to driving sales.
• Growth mindset with openness to coaching and feedback.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working in a performance-driven environment and being measured against SPH, productivity, and sales goals.
• Ability to travel throughout the assigned market to support Sephora locations and events.

SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS

• Flexible retail schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak retail periods.
• Availability to support launches, events, and key business-driving periods.
• Ability to travel within the assigned market based on business needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to move throughout the store and remain in a stationary position as needed to support clients and business initiatives.
• Ability to handle and transport product and event materials as needed to support business operations.
