Description Of Work
Responsible for developing manufacturing process for components and assemblies from customers' designs.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop complete manufacturing routings in JobBoss based on customers design.
- Develop manufacturing operation sheets for shop floor using Solid Edge.
- Coordinating with CNC Programming for required CNC programs, tools and fixtures
- Obtaining and validating techniques for heat treatment, NDT and special processes.
- Develop Control Plans and define in-process inspection methods.
- Define and order required gauges for manufacturing processes
- Developing manufacturing plans for customer approvals.
- Creation and control of required extracted data from CATIA V5 datasets.
- Responsible for engineering documents control.
- Evaluate and implement Internal Engineering Change Requests.
- Evaluate and implement Customer Design Change Requests.
- Investigation and disposition of non-conforming product, developing rework instructions according to customer’s requirements.
- Assign immediate and preventative corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Evaluate current manufacturing processes, tools, methodologies and suggest solutions to improve production capacity and efficiency.
- Actively participate in company’s continuous improvement initiatives and events.
- Interactions with customers to provide customer support and product development.
- Assist in day to day manufacturing operations.
- Support Estimating department when quoting new parts / assemblies.
- Comply with health and safety rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Requirements
- B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist – Mechanical Engineering (Numerical Control).
- Community College or equivalent working experience equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace environment including familiarity with AS9100.
- Strong knowledge in developing manufacturing processes for machined parts and assemblies.
- Strong machining knowledge including milling, turning, deburring etc.
- Excellent knowledge of 3D design drafting - preferably Solid Edge.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience machining and processing stainless steel, precipitation hardening steels, steel, aluminium, titanium, bronzes, plastic.
- Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods (FPI, MPI, nital etch, etc.).
- Knowledge of heat treatment and finishing (prime, paint, chrome plating etc.) processes.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems. Preferably JobBoss.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office – Excel and Word.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communications skills, positive attitude and ability to work as a team member.
- Willingness to work additional hours, at the plant or from home as required to support delivery.
- Lean manufacturing experience an asset.
- MasterCAM or other CAM programming experience an asset.
