POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Lead Journeyperson / Foreman Electrician, you will lead our crews on commercial project sites throughout the DMV area, supervising day-to-day execution and developing the next generation of electricians on our team. You will manage materials, coordinate with subcontractors, train apprentices and journeypersons, and partner closely with the Director of Operations to deliver projects on schedule, in scope, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced electrician who takes pride in running a clean, efficient, code-compliant job site and developing strong teams.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Supervise job site activities, including materials management, team coordination, and quality control across all phases of each project.
- Review electrical drawings and project plans; assign duties to apprentices and journeypersons to optimize execution and ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Train, mentor, and provide hands-on guidance to apprentices and newer journeypersons in electrical work, NEC application, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the project manager and estimator to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
- Maintain consistent communication with the project manager, estimator, and director of operations regarding project schedules, scope changes, and on-site issues.
- Ensure all work complies with the latest editions of the NEC and all applicable national, state, and local electrical codes.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues and provide effective, efficient solutions to keep projects moving forward.
- Order materials as needed and manage on-site inventory throughout the duration of each project.
- Coordinate electrical work with other trades and subcontractors to maximize efficiency and avoid conflicts.
- Delegate tasks effectively and manage daily crew assignments for optimal project execution.
- Complete and document service tickets accurately for any work performed outside of project scope.
- Respond to emergency power and backup system failures promptly, including troubleshooting and servicing generators when required.
- Supervise inspections by AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction); address and resolve any noted deficiencies promptly.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, vendors, general contractors, and subcontractors to support project outcomes.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable codes always.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License (or a valid license from a state with Maryland reciprocity), with a minimum of 4 years of field experience. (Required)
- High School Diploma or GED. (Required)
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the current NEC, including recent updates, and all applicable Maryland and Montgomery County codes. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, and project specifications. (Required)
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including task delegation, communication, and mentoring. (Required)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and provide innovative on-site solutions. (Required)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. (Required)
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test. (Required)
- Strong proficiency in English — both written and verbal — to ensure effective communication with customers, team members, the office, and subcontractors. (Required)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, squat, bend, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods. (Required)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- CPR / First Aid certification.
- Generator installation, maintenance, or service experience.
- Experience with Service Fusion or similar field service management software.
- Prior experience as a foreman or lead on commercial electrical projects.

- Wage Range: $28.00 – $57.00 per hour, based on skills, experience, and licensure.
