Senior Cost Accountant

A high-growth, private equity-backed organization in the manufacturing/distribution space is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join its team. This is a newly reopened role offering strong visibility, cross-functional exposure, and a clear path for growth.

Position Overview

This role will focus heavily on inventory and cost accounting, partnering closely with both accounting and operations to ensure accuracy, improve reporting, and support decision-making across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support month-end close, including cost-related journal entries and analysis
• Perform inventory reconciliations (book-to-physical) and investigate variances
• Analyze purchase price variances and assist with standard cost updates
• Ensure accuracy of inventory, pricing, and quantities across systems
• Work within the ERP to manage purchasing, receipts, and transfers
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and regional teams
• Identify and implement process improvements in a growing environment
• Support audits and assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• ~5+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Manufacturing or distribution experience required
• Strong focus on inventory accounting (most critical piece)
• ERP experience required (SAP a plus)
• Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
• Comfortable stepping into a growing, somewhat unstructured environment
