Job Description
About the Role
The Design organization is focused on building innovative, human‑centered experiences across a global portfolio of products. The editorial team within Design develops and curates content for all design‑focused publishing channels, including the design website and social media platforms. These channels highlight product teams, showcase design work, and share stories about how design contributes to the company's broader mission.
We are seeking an experienced Editorial Copywriter who can craft compelling, human‑centered stories and translate complex or technical design concepts into clear, engaging content. This role requires strong editorial judgment, the ability to work across multiple formats, and comfort collaborating with subject matter experts. You should thrive in a fast‑moving environment, enjoy juggling multiple projects, and bring a passion for design and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the editorial team to develop narrative‑driven, human‑centered stories for a global design audience.
- Write, edit, and publish long‑form content such as profiles, explainers, Q&As, and newsletters in partnership with internal authors and subject matter experts.
- Craft high‑performing short‑form copy for social channels, including headlines, captions, hooks, and in‑asset text tailored to each platform's voice and best practices.
- Adapt long‑form narratives into platform‑native social packages and website updates while maintaining consistency across channels.
- Identify timely opportunities and shape them into editorial concepts with clear angles and takeaways.
- Apply strong editorial judgment and social awareness, anticipating how content may resonate across regions and cultural contexts.
- Maintain high editorial standards for clarity, quality, and brand consistency while contributing to the evolution of voice and tone.
- Edit and coach non‑professional writers and subject matter experts to produce polished, publishable content.
- Manage multiple drafts, deadlines, and concurrent projects with strong organizational skills and proactive communication.
- Synthesize complex or technical ideas into accessible content for broad audiences.
- Leverage or learn AI tools to streamline content production workflows and increase team agility.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7+ years of experience writing and editing across formats, including long‑form articles, newsletters, Q&As/explainers, and short‑form social copy.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt voice, tone, and style for different audiences and platforms while maintaining brand consistency.
- Strong editorial judgment with the ability to shape raw ideas into clear narratives, identify gaps, and improve structure and flow.
- Experience synthesizing complex or technical concepts into accessible, engaging content.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional partners and navigating feedback cycles, including legal or brand review.
- Excellent organizational skills, reliability, and ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Comfort editing and coaching contributors who are not professional writers.
- Interest in or willingness to learn AI‑assisted content tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing about design, technology, or creative communities.
- Familiarity with social media strategy and platform‑native storytelling.
- Experience using analytics or insights to refine content and packaging.
- Experience improving editorial workflows, systems, or processes.
