Elearning development lead (contract)

  • Metro Vancouver, BC

Limestone Learning is looking for one or more experienced Metro Vancouver-based elearning development leads to join our team. This role is a blend of individual contribution and team leadership and will continue to evolve as we grow. Our team members typically work on contract on a per-project basis, though this role should feature work on a steady stream of projects.

The successful candidate(s) will possess a blend of solid instructional design capabilities, elearning experience, creativity, excellent writing and editing skills, team leadership experience and a strong, dependable work ethic. We’re looking for people we can count on to create awesome work with careful attention to detail while exceeding client expectations.

Must-haves

  • Strong portfolio of previous project experience in all aspects of analysis, design and development for elearning, featuring examples clearly describing your role(s) in each project.
  • Proven experience designing creative learning solutions and developing them using Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise.
  • Excellent communication skills — both written and oral.
  • Experience managing an elearning development team.
  • Capable of working effectively to a timeline and budget.
  • Located in the Metro Vancouver area.
  • Note: work is primarily remote; however, the successful candidate must be able to attend occasional in-person meetings locally.

Core responsibilities

  • Designing and executing deliverables (instructional design plans, outlines, storyboards, voiceover scripts, course builds, etc.) that align with scope and are realistic, thorough and complete.
  • Assessing source materials for each project to understand the core intent, identify gaps, and gather questions.
  • Working with team members, clients and subject matter experts to close content gaps and establish learning architecture.
  • Bringing each project to life through instructionally sound, creative, and immersive design.
  • Working with graphic designers to establish appropriate design templates and carrying these through in project builds.
  • Following company and client processes and standards.
  • Managing work time effectively, tracking hours and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintaining a high level of attention to detail: developing materials that are grammatically correct and error-free, listening to and delivering on client’s true needs.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues related to development tools and content delivery platforms.
  • Participating in project planning and scoping, while working closely with project managers to keep them informed regarding project scope and timeline.
  • Providing instructional design leadership on projects; reviewing deliverables of other team members and giving feedback with clarity and tact.
  • Receiving feedback from internal and external sources in a professional manner and integrating it into project deliverables.
  • Communicating effectively with all project team members.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • A minimum of five years of successful experience designing and developing elearning, including developing to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies and approaches.
  • Proven ability to develop successful courses using elearning authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia and Vyond.
  • Possess a keen design sense to evaluate and enhance course content, ensuring visual appeal and engagement.
  • Familiarity with SCORM technical standards and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Proficiency using scheduling, productivity and communication tools, including Gantt charts, spreadsheets, and conferencing systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and PowerPoint, particularly as used in the development of instructional content.
  • Successful experience creating and working to project budgets and timelines.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Previous experience managing and supervising fellow team members.
  • Previous experience working directly with clients.

Other requirements

  • We work collaboratively in-person with our team members and clients on many projects subject to data sovereignty and data residency requirements; therefore, the successful candidate must be based in Canada. Furthermore, as stated above, this specific role requires an individual based in Metro Vancouver.
