Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to family law, immigration petitions, estate planning, and other civil matters
- Conduct thorough legal research utilizing LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research tools to support case strategies
- Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence for litigation cases across various practice areas including personal injury, workers' compensation, landlord-tenant law, and securities law
- Assist in managing case files by organizing documents, tracking deadlines, and maintaining accurate records within the law office management system
- Support clients through consultations by providing clear explanations of legal options and procedural steps in immigration law and family law cases
- Collaborate with attorneys on negotiations with opposing counsel or parties to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
- Stay current on evolving laws and regulations related to tribal law & regulations, patent law, environmental law, and other relevant areas to ensure compliance and effective advocacy
Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in the State of Maryland
- Proven experience in legal research and writing using Westlaw or LexisNexis platforms
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiple practice areas including family law, immigration law, estate planning, environmental law, landlord-tenant law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, patent law or litigation
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients
- Excellent legal drafting skills with attention to detail and clarity in all written communications
- Prior legal administrative experience preferred to efficiently manage case workflows and documentation
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
