About the opportunity:
The Management Controller, Milk Supply Accounting, is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions at milk collection level and provides analytical support to the department, the Operations group as well as Operational Finance.
The attributes we are looking for:
- Coordinate, review and/or prepare annual budgets, ongoing forecasts and reports on monthly results in conjunction with department head, Operation group and Operational Finance.
- Prepare the milk utilization declarations for 17 plants and ensuring submission to the Provincial Milk Boards within deadlines.
- Calculate Provincial Boards’ milk payments, authorize payment of all dairy liquids purchased externally as well as inbound freight invoices of products.
- Manage staff by hiring, reviewing performance and providing feedback, determining training and development needs, and providing work direction. Establish key objectives for the department and the employees therein.
- Review and update policies, processes and procedures in order to ensure continuous improvement. Support Director in meeting all reporting deadlines including account reconciliations, preparation of annual budgets, long term plans and monthly forecasts and other key reporting activities as well as preparation of current operating results in comparison to budget and forecast in a timely manner.
- Liaise with the four Provincial Milk Boards, milk auditors and Canadian Dairy Commission to ensure the milk declaration rules are correctly applied.
- Supervise the milk audit process by ensuring adequate documentation is provided to auditors, ensuring potential liability resulting from the audit is thoroughly verified for accuracy, recommendations duly noted and fully implemented.
- Provide variance analysis for the cost of milk and “revenue” from the plants based on the internal transfer prices (known as PCI). Deliver this to upper management with the explanation, context and causes of variances that impact the results on a monthly basis.
- Provide support and expertise to department and team by producing analysis of variances and key performance indicators. Streamline processes and implement controls to increase the productivity and reliability of the information provided by our department.
- Prepare and maintain the milk and dairy internal transfer prices (PCI) (the “price grid”).
- Communicate and work closely with the plants to ensure that any changes to the milk declaration/payment system is fully understood and implemented accordingly.
- Optimize SAP reporting and functionality to facilitate timely identification and analysis of issues. Communicate with I.T. team to question, understand and implement SAP processes to enhance reporting.
- Actively participate in process improvement projects aiming to stream line milk declaration and milk audit activities.
What you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, or a related discipline, plus a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA).
- Minimum five (5) years experience in general operations of manufacturing accounting including three (3) years experience in a supervisory role or coordinating major projects.
- SAP manufacturing experience with knowledge of BOMs and costing processes.
- Strong team facilitation/leadership skills with a demonstrated commitment to employee development.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
- Excellent quantitative/qualitative skills plus the ability to present and communicate ideas in both written and oral forms.
- Ability to multi-task, quickly absorb and utilize new concepts, processes and technologies and to function in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations. Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of business and industry processes, plus ability to communicate and work with different functional groups both at plant and corporate level.
- Leadership capability, including ability to motivate and mentor others within work group. Ability to lead initiatives and project teams. Ability to work cross functionally and develop rapport with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient with standard office computer technology including Microsoft Office products with a very strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and SAP R3.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing and control processes at the plant level.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset.
- Ability to travel as required to various plants.

Compensation
As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is $99,100 – $123,900+.
Please note: Along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, your actual base salary will be fair, competitive, and be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
