As a Mainframe Storage Specialist at Kyndryl, your primary responsibility is to provide technical support with a high degree of Customer Happiness by meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and ensuring process compliance. You will be tasked with performing business impact analysis and risk assessments to minimize the chances of significant service outages or disasters. Your role will involve contributing to current projects by analyzing problems, offering solutions, testing, modifying, automating, and integrating systems. Additionally, you will be engaged in long-range strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operational execution across various platforms. Key Responsibilities:
- Storage box data migration including DASD to DASD and Tape to tape, as well as Storage replication
- Analyze and research options for collaborating with existing external systems
- Prepare Root Cause Analysis and ensure meeting Service Level Agreements for submission
- Develop, document, and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup/restore, performance tuning, and configuration of environments
- Manage space management activities such as VTOC resizing, Defrag, Compress/Reclaim/Release/Cleaning of datasets
- Define SMS rules and ACS routines along with reorganization of storage datasets
- Plan and execute disaster recovery activities including Tape recovery, DASD Replication, and Tape Replication
- Lead daily Operations meetings and aid in identifying problem management trends
Qualifications Required:
- At least 7 years of experience in the IT industry as a Mainframe Storage Specialist
- Strong knowledge and experience in areas such as DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, VSAM, IDCAMs, CA products, FDR products, and more
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on customer success
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and strong communication skills
- Willingness to work in customer work hours across different regions, including weekends and holidays as on-call staff
