Job description

Kunai builds full-stack technology solutions for banks, credit and payment networks, infrastructure providers, and their customers. Together, we are changing the world’s relationship with financial services. At Kunai, we help our clients modernize, capitalize on emerging trends, and evolve their business for the coming decades by remaining tech-agnostic and human-centered.

As a Technical Product Manager, you'll own the roadmap for products built on high throughput, event-driven systems, working closely with engineers to turn complex technical capabilities into tools that drive a massive global payment network.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the product roadmap for systems built on streaming and event-driven architecture
  • Translate technical capabilities like Kafka, microservices, and cloud infrastructure into clear product requirements
  • Partner with engineering to prioritize backlog items based on technical complexity and business value
  • Define success metrics for high throughput data products and track them post launch
  • Run discovery with technical and business stakeholders to identify the highest impact work
  • Write clear specs and acceptance criteria that engineers can build against without back and forth
  • Align cross-functional teams (engineering, design, data, business) around a shared roadmap
  • Make data-informed tradeoffs when scope, timeline, or technical constraints collide
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and business context to engineers

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally on platforms with real technical depth
  • Working familiarity with event-driven architecture and streaming systems like Kafka
  • Comfortable talking through microservices, system design, and AWS with an engineering team
  • Some exposure to Python products, whether you've written code yourself or worked closely with those who have
  • Experience running agile ceremonies and owning a backlog with clear accountability for outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including with technical and senior audiences
  • A track record of shipping products, not just planning them
  • Curious, clear communicator, comfortable being the translator between business and engineering

Our success over the past 20 years is rooted in our exceptional team, which thrives in a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning.

We are proud to offer our employees a range of benefits, including competitive compensation, professional development opportunities, and flexible work arrangements, all designed to help them thrive. As we continue to expand, we remain committed to cultivating an environment where people feel valued, have a voice, and are given the tools to grow—both personally and professionally—while pushing the boundaries of innovation in the fintech industry.

Minimum Degree Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in lieu of a degree, demonstrating in addition to the minimum years of experience required for the role, three years of specialized training and/or progressively responsible work experience in technology for each missing year of college is required
