Position Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit at Joseph Brant Hospital is an innovative and rapidly changing environment providing quality care based on the latest guidelines and best practices aligned with the Critical Care Services Ontario (CCSO) strategy. We are seeking individuals who possess excellent communication skills, and are strong advocates for patient and family centered care. The successful candidate will be joining a very dynamic inter professional team that fosters collaboration and service excellence.
Qualifications
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Current Heart & Stroke Approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Card, required at time of hire.
- Current Heart & Stroke Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, required at time of hire.
- Successful completion of a Critical Care Certificate is required (or currently enrolled, with completion required within one (1) year of start date); preference will be given to candidates who have already obtained the certificate.
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent Medical/Surgical experience is required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Critical Care setting is considered an asset; preference will be given to candidates with current Critical Care nursing experience.
- Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) is considered an asset.
- Must be able to interpret advanced arrhythmias and 12 lead ECG.
- Must be comfortable with clinical equipment, including monitors, infusion pumps, ECG machines, phlebotomy, invasive pressure monitoring, ventilators.
- Strong assessment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform effectively under stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and demonstrated self-directed learning.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
