Senior/Lead Backend Engineer

You will work on highly scalable, real-time infrastructure that connects renewable energy generation, customer demand, and intelligent grid optimization. Collaborating closely with product and engineering teams, you’ll design and deliver robust systems that directly impact how energy is produced, distributed, and consumed. Accountabilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems supporting real-time energy data and operations
• Develop and optimize high-throughput data pipelines for processing large volumes of customer energy consumption data
• Create and maintain integrations with third-party systems through robust messaging and API interfaces
• Contribute to building a real-time “digital twin” of energy generation and demand for advanced analytics and decision-making
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to deliver high-quality features and improvements
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of production systems
• Take ownership of backend architecture decisions and continuously improve system design and scalability
• Adapt quickly to evolving business needs and drive technical innovation across the platform

Requirements

• Proven experience as a backend or software engineer, with a strong track record of delivering production-grade systems
• Ideally 2+ years of hands-on experience building scalable, high-availability backend services
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data processing, and backend architecture principles
• Experience designing and implementing complex systems from the ground up
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and backend frameworks
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Bonus: experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., AWS CDK), energy sector knowledge, or consumer-facing product development
