Job Description
JACOBS has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Construction Manager to join our dedicated team in overseeing our data center projects. We are looking for someone motivated by collaboration and committed to exceeding client expectations through innovative project delivery, including planning, engineering, architectural design, and construction management.
As a Data Center Construction Manager, you will be essential in leading both the pre-construction and construction phases. Your role involves reviewing contractor performance to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards, while also providing strategic planning assistance to optimize contractor efficiency. You will work closely with our team and report directly to Jacobs Management, ensuring that all work meets established construction practices. Additionally, you will offer expertise on US construction methods and review change orders as necessary.
Key responsibilities include:
- Fostering a culture of safety in alignment with Jacobs Beyond-Zero safety standards.
- Conducting constructability reviews and pre-construction planning with a focus on safety, cost optimization, and schedule efficiency.
- Developing and implementing construction schedules.
- Overseeing commissioning planning and detailed scheduling.
- Leading Data Center projects valued at $10M TIC or greater.
- Managing a professional project field staff of five or more.
- Innovating project solutions centered on modularization and prefabrication methods.
- Reviewing and approving execution plans from contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Monitoring daily construction progress and providing comprehensive reports to owners and Jacobs management.
- Conducting daily and weekly contractor meetings focused on safety, schedule adherence, change management, and budget control.
- Establishing processes for proactively addressing and remediating construction defects.
- Bringing at least 5 years of experience in managing large building or civil construction projects.
- Possessing a Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Leading a Data Center project team and managing subcontractor and vendor relationships effectively.
- Having specific project experience related to Data Centers and Data Center upfits.
- Understanding electrical tie-ins, instrumentation installations, network cabling, and related technical aspects.
- Being knowledgeable in NFPA70E and other safety standards.
- Demonstrating thorough expertise in construction scheduling and commissioning planning.
- Exhibiting professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Utilizing computer applications such as Microsoft Office and project management software proficiently.
- Reading and interpreting contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules effectively.
- Implementing advanced technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean principles.
- Obtaining OSHA 30 certification or a willingness to achieve it within 60 days of employment.
Physical Requirements:
- Engaging in physical activities including reaching, handling, and manipulating objects.
- Coordinating movements around active construction sites.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Having the ability to see and hear (with or without correction).
- Climbing step ladders and navigating uneven surfaces safely.
- Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds as required.
- Bending, kneeling, and crouching while navigating project sites.
