Job description

The Government Affairs role is responsible for shaping public policy and legislation, building relationships with government stakeholders, and ensuring our business strategy aligns with evolving healthcare and data interoperability policies.
This role serves as a strategic bridge between public sector policy and sales and marketing to support growth while advancing policies that improve patient outcomes and systems efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze federal healthcare policy, legislation, and regulatory developments affecting health IT, data interoperability and privacy.
- Develop and execute government affairs strategies that support the InterSystems Public Sector business objectives.
- Advocate for policies that enable adoption of software solutions through direct engagement with policymakers, regulators, and staff.
- Draft policy positions, comment letters, testimony, and briefing materials.
- Assist with influencing public policy and providing input with proposed and existing legislation.
- Build and maintain relationships with Congressional leadership and key staff.
- Coordinate executive participation in Congressional meetings, hearings, and industry events.
- Translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for internal teams.
- Track emerging policy trends and assess risks and opportunities for the business.
- Ensure compliance with lobbying, ethics and disclosure requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5–10+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, healthcare policy, or regulatory affairs.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare system and health technology policy landscape.
- Experience engaging with federal and/or state policymakers and regulatory agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

InterSystems is providing a current good faith estimate of the anticipated base salary range for this position depending on a variety of factors including experience, education, skills, and performance.
Other compensation may include a discretionary annual variable target incentive.

This position may be eligible for sales incentives based on certain sales goals, achievements, and results. While sales incentives, if any, vary they generally will result in payment of 15% to 25% of base pay, assuming on-target achievement.
