Description
The Gerig Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work on a Sea Grant funded project evaluating the impact of the historic 2022 cisco boom on native and non-native predators in Lake Superior. This project will leverage both empirical and model-based approaches to characterize how the diet, growth, and population dynamics of predators responded before, during, and after the cisco recruitment event. This is a collaborative project among state, federal, tribal, and provincial agencies involved in fisheries management in Lake Superior.
Qualifications
The selected candidate will have demonstrated experience in scientific writing, statistical modeling, and quantitative ecology. The selected candidate will develop bioenergetics and ecosystem models (e.g. Ecopath with Ecosim) to evaluate both short and long-term consequences. The position provides 18 months of funding with opportunity for extension. Salary is commensurate with experience.
