Job Description
Job Title: Regulatory and Compliance Lead
Organisation: Inflect Consulting
Location: New Delhi
Reports to: Founder’s Office
Experience: 7+ years
About Us
Inflect is a policy intelligence and systems-diagnostics firm working at the intersection of public policy, regulatory foresight, and institutional reform. We partner with governments, multilaterals, and private-sector stakeholders to diagnose systemic delivery failures, map policy architecture, and design implementation-ready interventions across sectors, including climate resilience, public health, fiscal systems, digital governance, land administration, EV policy, and social protection.
Our work is deeply research-driven, politically informed, and implementation-focused. We are building a team that combines analytical rigour with strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex policy insight into actionable partnerships.
The Role
You will be the regulatory and compliance authority for the company and a commercial leader who can open doors. You will work alongside the founders, product managers, and ML engineers to define the regulatory taxonomy, prioritise coverage, validate model outputs, and ensure our platform reflects the real obligations Indian businesses face. You will also build the partnership ecosystem and drive business origination, bringing in design partners, early customers, and channel relationships that help us scale. This is not a back-office advisory role; you will be central to product strategy, customer trust, and commercial growth.
What You'll Do
- Own the regulatory content strategy: which laws, rules, notifications, circulars, and state-level instruments we cover, and at what depth
- Build and maintain the regulatory taxonomy spanning corporate law, tax (Direct and Indirect), labour and industrial relations, FEMA, data protection (DPDP Act), sector-specific regulation (RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, TRAI, etc.), and state-level compliance
- Partner with the ML team to validate LLM-generated interpretations, design evaluation rubrics, flag hallucinations, and create gold-standard datasets for fine-tuning and benchmarking
- Translate dense regulatory text into structured obligations: who is affected, what action is required, by when, with what evidence, and what the consequences of non-compliance are
- Monitor the regulatory pipeline — bills in Parliament, draft notifications, consultation papers, judicial rulings — and assess what will materially change customer obligations
- Serve as the senior subject-matter voice with customers, design partners, auditors, and regulators; represent the company in industry forums
- Advise the founder on go-to-market priorities by sector and customer segment based on regulatory intensity and pain
- Build and own the partnership ecosystem that drives both credibility and pipeline
- Drive business origination: leverage your network to bring in design partners, early customers, and channel relationships, and work alongside the founders on enterprise sales conversations where domain credibility is decisive
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in Indian regulatory and compliance work, ideally across multiple of the following: a Big 4 or large law firm regulatory practice, in-house at a regulated entity, a regulator, or a senior compliance role at a fast-growing company
- Prior experience at a RegTech, LegalTech, or compliance SaaS company is required. You've helped build, sell, or operate a compliance software product and understand where these products are most efficient and what customers actually pay for
- A demonstrated track record of building commercial relationships — partnerships, channel deals, design partner programs, or enterprise sales motions where you were the domain credibility in the room
- Deep working knowledge of at least five of: Companies Act and MCA filings, GST and Direct Tax, labour codes and state labour compliance, FEMA, SEBI and RBI regulations, DPDP Act
- A track record of reading primary sources — Gazette notifications, circulars, press releases — rather than relying on secondary commentary
- Comfort working with technical teams; you don't need to write code, but you need to be able to specify requirements precisely and reason about how a model could get something wrong
- Strong written communication; you can explain a complex regulatory change in two paragraphs that a CFO will actually read
- Pragmatic judgment about materiality — what matters to customers vs. what is technically true but operationally irrelevant
- Qualifications such as CA, CS, LLB, or equivalent are typical for this background but not strict requirements
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with how LLMs handle structured legal text and where they fail
- Existing relationships with regulators, industry bodies (FICCI, CII, NASSCOM), or compliance heads at mid-to-large enterprises
- Experience in building and managing a content or research team
What We Offer
- Founding-team-level ownership of the regulatory function
- Competitive compensation
- Direct influence on product direction and customer strategy
- The chance to build the definitive compliance infrastructure layer for Indian businesses
To apply: Send a note to team@inflectpolicy.com with your CV and a brief example of a recent regulatory change you found interesting and why it mattered to the businesses it affected.
