Financial Analyst– Controllership

Our client, a large financial institution, is seeking an Senior Financial Analyst for a 6-month contract opportunity, with high potential for extension.

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 2-3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and one floating day) at the downtown office. The role supports the Finance Controllership team with a focus on financial reporting integrity, loan accounting, and complex accounting investigations.

Responsibilities

• Execute detailed loan contract accounting reviews
• Perform financial analysis and provide variance explanations
• Investigate accounting and control-related issues
• Support reconciliations and month-end close processes
• Ensure integrity of financial reporting and control environment
• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes

Must-Have Requirements

• 4+ years of experience within financial services institutions
• Advanced Excel skills (formulas, VBA, Macros)
• Strong experience investigating accounting issues and financial controls
• Ability to manage large data sets with high attention to detail
• Experience operating independently in a controllership environment

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with loan loss provisions or insurance accounting
• Experience with GL systems (Peoplesoft, SAP, Oracle)
• Strong knowledge of financial controls
• CPA or equivalent with strong IFRS and financial reporting knowledge
• Exposure to ACBS

Education & Certifications

• Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) preferred
