SCOPE OF ROLE:

Machinists ensure all products are made safely, with the highest quality, and in an efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Plans machining in cell by studying work orders, blueprints, set up sheets to ensure quality production.
• Sets up and operates various machines as rotation takes place within a work cell.
• Translates instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
• Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto the machines.
• Sets machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.
• Supervises the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
• Inspects and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.  Performing Quality Audits and first pass yield inspections.
• Meets production schedules. Meeting Hourly Rate (i.e. units per man hour) as required by Production needs.
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Promotes safety while preventing safety incidents.
• Ensures that the machines are operating correctly and that pieces are cut to perfection.
• Performs maintenance on the machines and replace dull or aged parts as necessary.
• Demonstrates commitment to continuous quality improvement.
• Utilizes analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Exhibits technical ability and proficient with basic math skills.
• Ability to use precision gauges and measuring instruments.
• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience operating CNC machines.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or training program is preferred.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

A machinist sets up and operates machine tools to create precision parts, requiring physical stamina for heavy lifting and standing, sharp math and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely around loud, hazardous manufacturing equipment.
