Job Description
The Process Engineer in the Application Solutioning – Processing Team will work to increase Husky’s processing knowledge primarily in Packaging injection molding and apply the knowledge to improve system throughput and part quality.
Key Responsibilities / Area of Accountability:
- Develop, design and execute experiments to identify limitations of existing technology solutions.
- Theoretically derive hardware requirements for new equipment technologies and design experiments to validate theory.
- Work with Sales Support teams during solutioning to identify processing risks associated with applications, hardware and technologies.
- Develop plans to experimentally derive processing guidelines for new applications and products.
- Review feasibility of special or exceptional customer applications and inquiries.
- Participate in Product Launch Teams when required.
Qualifications
- Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering Degree.
- Two to five industrial experience or equivalent.
- An in-depth understanding of injection molding concepts, system operation and behavior and an advanced knowledge of rheology and polymer properties relevant to processing.
- Experience with Husky molding equipment is an asset.
- Ability to travel internationally – 25% of the role
- Flexibility to support high level processing-related customer issues at times with short notice travel.
- Expertise in data analysis is required to make connections between injection molding or part design variables and the measured effect on performance.
Skills and Abilities:
- Communication, project management and organization skills
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills, synthesizing information to problem solve
- Good IT skills (MS Office, statistical software)
- Background in machine learning and statistical methods data analysis is considered an asset
- Ability to connect field observations and theoretical model predictions to align theory and simulation with hardware features and system behavior.
- Fluent in English; other languages are considered an asset.
