Job Description

The Inn at Huff Estates is a 21-room boutique accommodation located in the heart of Prince Edward County. The property features an on-site winery, Inn, art gallery, and sculpture garden.

We are looking for a front desk-night audit person to join our hospitality team. Regular shifts will be Sunday, Monday & Tuesday from 11 pm - 8 am. Additional afternoon / night shifts may be required in peak season and to cover time off requests.

The Night Audit-Front Desk Attendant is responsible for overseeing the property during overnight hours, ensuring a smooth and secure operation while delivering exceptional guest service. This role combines front desk responsibilities with end-of-day reporting and breakfast set-up requirements.

The Night Audit role requires a professional, customer-focused attitude, strong computer and organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy, excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A high level of written and spoken English is required to ensure clear and professional communication with guests.

Guest Services

  • Greet late arrivals and assist with check-ins and early check-outs as required
  • Provide information about the property, amenities, and local area
  • Process guest payments, credit card authorizations and maintain accurate billing records
  • Book reservations for accommodation and special packages
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and requests in a friendly, timely, calm, professional and effective manner
  • Manage guest reservations, cancellations, and modifications using Inn property management software and OTA’s.
  • Maintain guest room inventory on OTA’s.
  • Answer phone calls promptly, using polite and professional phone etiquette to assist guests with their inquiries or reservations
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality on Inn operations and guest information
  • In colder months shoveling and/or salting of front lobby entrance &/or guest room paths may be required to ensure guest safety.
  • Offer details about Inn & Winery services, nearby attractions, and amenities to enrich the guest experience
  • Check, sort, and answer e-mails in an informative, courteous and professional manner or forward to the appropriate department.
  • Keep the reception area tidy and presentable with restocking of supplies, and light cleaning duties (including dusting, sweeping and cleaning of glass and surfaces)
  • Assist guests with minor room issues (TV troubleshooting, extra linens or amenities)
  • Assist with boardroom set-up, re-set, clean-up as required for group bookings. This may include clearing away and cleaning dishes.
  • Assist with courtyard room set-up and clean-up for private group dinners (when requested)
  • Assist GM with group event planning, itineraries, and related documentation when requested
  • Track and/or post sale of wine (by the bottle) to guest rooms and/or master folio for groups
  • Must have current Smart-Serve certificate or be willing to obtain within 2 weeks of hire date
  • Food Handler Certificate required for Night Audit position
  • Log wine inventory and replenish wine cooler as needed

Night Audit & Administrative Duties

  • Complete nightly audit procedures, including balancing daily transactions

Property Oversight & Security

  • Monitor the property to ensure guest safety and security during overnight hours
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs of public areas
  • Address any issues or emergencies that may arise, following established procedures

Housekeeping & Set-Up Support

  • Prepare the front desk and common areas for the morning shift
  • Assist with light cleaning and tidying of public spaces
  • Support early morning operations as needed (e.g., printing housekeeping reports, coffee station and breakfast prep & set-up)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Comfortable with basic accounting, cash handling, POS and computer systems
  • Familiarity with phone systems and hotel management software is a plus
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to remain alert during overnight hours
  • Familiarity with the use of office equipment (e.g. fax, printer, computers etc.)
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word) an asset
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Bilingual skills are valued for serving a diverse range of guests, though they are not mandatory
  • Strong organizational & problem-solving skills
  • A team player with a willingness to assist other team members as needed

Working Conditions

  • Overnight shifts in a quiet, independent work environment
  • Must be comfortable working alone for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting and standing/walking required
  • Must be able to navigate stairs without difficulty and lift or carry up to 25 lbs

Additional Notes

  • This role is seasonal (typically April – December) and scheduled based on occupancy levels

OVERNIGHT SHIFT 11 pm – 8 am (Sunday, Monday & Tuesday)

  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • Additional afternoon / night shifts may be required in peak season and to cover time off requests.

Must have your own transportation as public transportation is not available. Must be legally able to work in Canada.

Experience

  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
  • Previous experience is an asset; however, we are willing to train the right candidate with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Smart Serve Certificate required
  • Food Handler Certificate required

Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory criminal background check
