Overview
We are seeking an experienced, skilled and driven RF Cable Technician to join our growing team in the GTA. The ideal candidate will be honest, trustworthy and hard working. They must possess a strong background in telecommunications, specifically RF networks in Canada. The best candidates will have the ability to work effectively in various weather and working environments. They will be able to self manage their time and meet or exceed customer expectations as well as project milestones.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, sweep & document taps, line extenders and trunk amplifiers on RF networks
- Work at heights (28' extension ladder, elevated platforms, etc)
- Work in confined spaces (manholes, crawl spaces, etc)
- Install and connect various sizes of cable (.412, .500, .625, .750, etc)
- Maintain an adequate inventory of material/stock in the vehicle at all times
- Read and understand cable design maps
- Work in all weather conditions; day/night possible overnight shifts
- Submit all documents/photos in a timely fashion
- Will perform all other field related duties as required by supervisor
- Solve problems/troubleshoot issues as they arise in the field
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations
Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience installing distribution equipment on the Rogers network (taps, line extenders, trunk amps, etc)
- Familiarity with RF signal meter and the ability to sweep equipment as needed (Viavi, Trilithic)
- Experience completing documentation for equipment on the Rogers network
- Experience working on both aerial and buried RF distribution cable
- Experience working independently as well as part of a team in a deadline driven environment
- While not a requirement, priority will be given to candidates with node installation experience
Other Requirements
- Must be physically fit, including ability to safely lift heavy objects and tools and to perform hand digging as necessary
- Must be able to carry and climb a twenty eight foot extension ladder weighing 80 pounds
- Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company
- Must complete a criminal background check
