Job Description: Backend API Developer

We are looking for a Backend API Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services and APIs. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in Node.js with NestJS, Python, cloud-native microservices, and

Kubernetes-based deployments.

The successful candidate will work across modern backend technologies, enterprise and NoSQL databases, and secure development practices to deliver reliable, production-ready services. This role also requires close collaboration with DevOps, frontend, architecture, and other IT teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using:
• Node.js with NestJS
• Python
• Build, deploy, and support cloud-native microservices in Kubernetes-based cloud environments
• Develop and optimize integrations with DB2 and MongoDB
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth 2.0 and JWT
• Apply OWASP secure coding standards across all applications
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code
• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and API tests
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize services for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Support CI/CD pipelines and ensure production readiness
• Participate in code reviews, system design reviews, and architectural discussions
• Collaborate effectively with DevOps, frontend, architecture, and cross-functional IT teams

Project Delivery Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in system planning, technical design reviews, and project coordination
• Estimate development efforts and support delivery planning
• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation
• Ensure compliance with SDLC and Change Management policies
• Communicate the impact of proposed system changes on business processes and dependent systems
• Manage multiple development assignments simultaneously while ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong experience in backend development using Node.js, especially NestJS
• Hands-on experience with Python for backend service development
• Proven experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices
• Experience deploying and operating applications in Kubernetes-based environments
• Strong working knowledge of DB2 and MongoDB
• Experience implementing OAuth 2.0 and JWT-based security
• Solid understanding of secure coding practices and OWASP standards
• Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and API testing
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance optimization skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in enterprise application environments
• Familiarity with cloud-native architecture patterns
• Exposure to production support and high-availability systems
• Experience participating in architecture discussions and technical design decisions
