Job Summary
This role provides direct support to the Government Relations (GR) team and strengthens HOOPP’s capacity for research, political analysis and strategic advice in a dynamic and evolving policy and regulatory environment. The GR Analyst will play an important role in monitoring and analyzing government and regulatory developments, supporting engagement activities and contributing to initiatives that advance HOOPP’s priorities with domestic and international governments.
What you will do:
- Conduct public policy, political and regulatory research and analysis to inform HOOPP’s government relations initiatives across provincial, federal and relevant international jurisdictions.
- Monitor relevant media, government activity and social media channels daily, tracking developments in the public policy and regulatory environment.
- Prepare executive-ready briefings, reports and analysis on policy developments and emerging trends that may impact HOOPP.
- Support the development of presentations, briefing notes and materials for government engagement.
- Assist in the preparation of government submissions, consultation responses and pre-budget recommendations.
- Support the preparation and coordination of quarterly Board reporting related to government relations activities.
- Help ensure internal stakeholders remain informed and engaged on GR activities (e.g., through a weekly report).
- Track and report lobbying activities to ensure compliance with applicable legislation.
- Support stakeholder mapping, outreach and engagement activities, including preparation for meetings and events.
- Collaborate across internal teams to support alignment with broader organizational priorities and ensure a coordinated approach to government and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide support to the wider Government, Regulatory and Stakeholder Affairs team as required.
What you will bring:
- 1-3 years of experience in government, public policy, government relations or a related field.
- University degree in political science, public policy, economics or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Canadian political, legislative and regulatory environment; familiarity with pension, healthcare or financial services policy is considered an asset.
- Strong research, analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, SharePoint and research/database tools.
- The expected annual base salary range for this role is: $71,000 - $109,000 CAD
The actual base salary offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.
This role is eligible to participate in discretionary incentive plan(s), subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan text.
