Job Description
Role Overview:
As a New Product Manufacturing Engineer (NPME) at HCL Technologies, Bangalore, you will support new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement programs (CIP) by collaborating with design teams, operations, suppliers, and global product teams. Your primary responsibility will be to develop optimized manufacturing strategies, release product structures/BOMs, conduct virtual builds, analyze manufacturability, and ensure a smooth transition of products from design into manufacturing. The ideal candidate for this role will possess hands-on CAD/PLM experience (NX, Teamcenter/Creo), a strong understanding of DFx principles, and the ability to lead early product development manufacturing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interface with Engineering teams to support the release of new products and product enhancements under PLC/CIP programs.
- Release Super BOMs and ensure readiness for Phase Gate exit milestones.
- Launch, approve, and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Non-Standard Requests (NSRs), and change control activities.
- Perform virtual builds (DMU/Master Layout) to identify early manufacturability issues.
- Determine optimum manufacturing, sourcing, packaging, and shipping strategies for modules/products.
- Develop and validate Operation Method Sheets (OMS) for medium complexity assemblies.
- Collaborate with Design SMEs to develop tooling, test fixtures, and aids to achieve high-quality assembly and test processes.
- Participate in New Product Builds; perform root cause analysis (RCA) for assembly/test issues.
- Conduct Process Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (PFMECA) during new product development.
- Provide informal leadership through mentoring of junior engineers.
- Deliver training/support to shop floor teams and suppliers on BOM structures, build processes, and engineering intent.
Qualification Required:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles, product structure, bill of materials, producibility/manufacturability, and value engineering.
- Experience with NX / Creo for 3D CAD modeling.
- Experience with Teamcenter (mandatory), including Visualization tools.
- Practical application of DFx methodologies (DFA, DFM, DFQ, DFTest).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Capability to manage dynamic priorities and multiple tasks.
- Customer-oriented mindset with strong personal effectiveness and team skills.
