Job Description

We’re working with a large, well‑established organization in the public health and safety sector that is looking to add a Lead, Business Intelligence (BI) Product Developer to its growing Data & Analytics team. This team plays a major role in enabling evidence‑based decisions across the organization through advanced analytics, modelling, visualization, and forecasting.

This is a full-time, permanent role offering strong benefits, stability, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on national-level initiatives.

About the Role

As the Lead, BI Product Developer, you will apply deep expertise in advanced data visualization, interactive analytics applications, and geospatial analysis to support strategic decision-making. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, data teams, and domain experts to design, build, and deploy high‑impact BI products.

This role also includes mentoring junior talent such as interns and practicum students, helping develop their skills in visualization and geospatial analytics.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and developing BI products that turn analytical outputs into actionable insights.
  • Architecting new BI solutions including data visualizations, methodologies, glossaries, and deployment strategies.
  • Translating business questions into analytical models, prototypes, and interactive tools.
  • Leading geospatial analysis and producing advanced geographic visualizations.
  • Supporting data visualization for donor modelling and other strategic initiatives.
  • Mentoring interns and practicum students on visualization and geospatial tools.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners to embed BI products into decision workflows.
  • Communicating complex analytical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Representing the Analytics Centre of Excellence through presentations and knowledge‑sharing.

What You Bring

  • Advanced degree in computer science, IT, engineering, analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7+ years of experience in BI development with a strong portfolio of visualization work.
  • Expertise with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Strong background in geospatial tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapbox, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) including geospatial services.
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL.
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting insights to diverse audiences.

Hybrid Work Expectations

  • Hybrid model: 2 days onsite per week at a designated office location.
  • Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week.
