Job Title: Music Teacher (Vocal)
Department: Performing Arts / Music
Reports To: Principal / Academic Coordinator
Job Summary
The Music Vocal Teacher is responsible for teaching vocal music to students in accordance with CBSE guidelines, nurturing musical skills, creativity, discipline, and appreciation for Indian and/or Western vocal traditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct vocal music classes as per CBSE curriculum and co-scholastic requirements.
- Teach basic to advanced vocal techniques including swar, taal, raga, voice modulation, and breathing techniques.
- Train students in Indian classical, semi-classical, devotional, folk, or Western vocal music (as applicable).
- Prepare students for school assemblies, cultural programs, competitions, and annual functions.
- Support CBSE art education, art integration, and cultural activities.
- Identify and mentor musically talented students for competitions and advanced training.
- Maintain discipline and ensure students’ vocal health and safety.
- Introduce students to basic music theory, notation, and rhythm patterns.
- Coordinate with dance teachers, instrumental teachers, and event coordinators for performances.
- Maintain records of student participation and progress.
- Participate in school meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
- Take additional responsibilities related to cultural and co-curricular activities as assigned by the school.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Qualification:
- Degree / Diploma in Vocal Music (Indian or Western)
- Certification from a recognized music institution (preferred)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching or performance experience preferred
- Experience in handling school students is an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong vocal technique and musical knowledge.
- Ability to teach students of different age groups.
- Knowledge of music theory, rhythm, and performance skills.
- Good stage coordination and choir training skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and passion for music education.
