Project Controls Manager - Electrical Construction (Data Centers) - Sterling, VA

The Project Controls Manager serves as a key leader within the Project Management team. This role is responsible for overseeing project controls; ensuring project scope, structure, and controls readiness align with enterprise standards. The Project Controls Manager drives consistency in execution preparation, strengthens transparency, and mitigates startup risk on critical projects. This position requires a high level of autonomy, leadership, and technical expertise, with a focus on guiding teams, coordinating across functions, and driving continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee early-phase project activities, including scope definition, controls planning, and readiness assessments.
• Direct audits of project setup and baseline documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with PCG protocols.
• Provide leadership and support during project startup, supplementing project teams as needed to ensure successful onboarding and execution readiness.
• Ensure clear and consistent documentation of PCG input, audit findings, and support activities across projects.
• Drive continuous improvement of templates, workflows, and standardized planning tools across the PCG.
• Collaborate with Project Manager team to validate inputs, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accuracy in early reporting cycles.
• Mentor and guide junior project controls staff, fostering technical development and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience within project controls.
• Experience within an electrical contractor, additional experience with data center projects a plus.
• Capable of reviewing large amounts of project information and identifying areas of inconsistency or misalignment.
• Clear communication and documentation skills.
• Proficient in Excel, Smartsheet, and project coordination platforms.
