About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Technical Program Manager to lead large-scale, cross-functional programs across Life Science Group (LSG) and Clinical Diagnostics Group (CDG) initiatives. This role will drive program execution, R&D alignment, AI/ML innovation, platform modernization, and regulatory-compliant product delivery within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program & R&D Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of multi-team programs across LSG and CDG product portfolios.
- Serve as the primary technical program interface between R&D and engineering teams.
- Translate research and laboratory innovations into scalable platform development roadmaps.
- Drive AI/ML initiatives, including computer vision, predictive diagnostics, and LLM-assisted documentation.
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment and provide executive-level program updates and recommendations.
- Present risk mitigation strategies and resolution plans to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
Architecture & Delivery Excellence
- Participate in architecture reviews and guide build-versus-buy decisions.
- Establish and maintain SAFe/hybrid-agile program management practices.
- Define and govern program milestones, OKRs, dependencies, and risk management processes.
- Drive CI/CD and DevSecOps adoption for embedded software and instrument development teams.
- Develop executive-ready reporting and mentor program managers and project leads.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional technical programs with budgets exceeding $5M.
- Proven experience leading enterprise application programs throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including Salesforce, SAP, Microsoft ecosystem technologies, enterprise integrations, business process automation, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Strong experience managing programs within Life Sciences, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, or regulated healthcare environments.
- Experience with SAFe, LeSS, Agile-at-Scale methodologies, Program Increment planning, and Agile Release Train facilitation.
- Deep understanding of IVD product development lifecycle and regulatory frameworks, including:
- 21 CFR Part 11
- IEC 62304
- ISO 13485
- Experience supporting molecular biology workflows such as PCR, ddPCR, electrophoresis, or flow cytometry.
- Strong background in embedded systems, instrument software, firmware, and hardware development programs.
- Knowledge of cloud-native platforms (AWS and/or Azure), APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience managing AI/ML program delivery, model governance, and enterprise AI initiatives.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- PgMP, PMP, SAFe SPC, or equivalent program management certification.
- Experience with laboratory environments, including CLIA, CAP, QC systems, and proficiency testing.
- Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) governance processes.
- Experience with platform engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and developer platform strategies.
- Working knowledge of embedded software development using C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with enterprise AI platforms such as Claude, Azure OpenAI, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems including SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence.
- Proven ability to mentor TPMs and influence cross-functional teams in global matrix organizations.
This position is for a Gruve customer engagement.
