Job description

Gritter Francona is looking for an Animated Graphic/Visual Artist to be responsible for planning, designing, and producing high-quality visual graphics, illustrations, animations, and multimedia assets that support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) National Center for PTSD's educational video initiatives. The role transforms evidence-based clinical information into engaging, visually compelling, and accessible animated content that educates Veterans, trauma survivors, caregivers, healthcare providers, and the general public about trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), effective treatments, and co-occurring conditions.

Working collaboratively with project managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), scriptwriters, instructional designers, and production staff, the Animated Graphic/Visual Artist develops visual content that accurately reflects scientific evidence while maintaining a serious, hopeful, and compassionate tone. All visual products must support the National Center for PTSD's commitment to accessibility, cultural sensitivity, and the respectful portrayal of individuals with diverse traumatic experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and produce original animated graphics, illustrations, visual effects, and multimedia assets for educational videos and digital communications
  • Develop visual concepts that effectively communicate complex behavioral health and clinical information in a clear, engaging, and accessible manner
  • Create animations that accurately represent evidence-based information regarding trauma, PTSD, effective treatments, recovery, and co-occurring conditions
  • Design characters, environments, icons, infographics, motion graphics, and other visual elements that support educational storytelling while maintaining visual consistency across projects
  • Produce images, animations, and visual effects for use across multiple digital platforms, including websites, social media, presentations, and educational materials
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), scriptwriters, project managers, and Government stakeholders to ensure visual content accurately reflects scientific evidence and approved clinical protocols
  • Interpret storyboards, scripts, and creative direction to develop compelling visual narratives that encourage treatment engagement and improve public understanding
  • Revise artwork and animations based on Government review, stakeholder feedback, and quality assurance processes
  • Ensure all visual products comply with established branding, accessibility, and Section 508 requirements, as applicable
  • Apply visual design principles that are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and appropriate for audiences with diverse backgrounds and traumatic experiences
  • Maintain organized project files, graphic assets, templates, and documentation to support efficient production and future updates
  • Coordinate with production staff to ensure graphic elements integrate seamlessly into final animated video products

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Animation, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience producing animated graphics, visual design, or multimedia products relevant to the requirements of this task order
