Job Information
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Child and Family Services in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies, standards, and ministerial directives of TCSA and the GNWT.
- Receive, investigate, and assess child protection concerns and complaints, and determine if a child is in need of protection.
- Provide voluntary and mandated support services to children, youth (including those 16+), families, and individuals, including crisis intervention when required.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and review case plans and plans of care, including coordination of services, referrals, and placements within and outside the territory.
- Prepare, coordinate, and participate in court processes, including documentation, presentations, and consultation with legal counsel.
- Assess, recruit, support, place, and monitor foster homes and foster care placements, including completion of home studies and required documentation.
- Support community development and prevention initiatives through participation in needs assessments, program delivery, workshops, and community meetings.
- Provide after hours emergency social services, respond to crisis calls, and participate in data collection, reporting, and continuous quality improvement activities.
Key Qualifications:
- A relevant Degree (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology) AND
- One (1) year of experience in Child Protection.
OR
- A Social Work Diploma AND
- Two (2) years of experience in Child Protection.
Additional Requirements
- Class 5 Drivers License.
- Must be able to obtain a Child Protection Statutory Appointment within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain it.
