Who we are:
The Beauval Compliance Area Manager is headquartered in Beauval. The Conservation Officer Service is the regulatory arm of Saskatchewan Environment with conservation officers that protect the public's interests in the management of air, land, water and natural resources.
Background:
In the fall of 2021, the Government of Saskatchewan announced peace officers, special constables and community safety officers embedded in multiple ministries would be brought together under a single provincial governance structure known as the Provincial Protective Services (PPS) Branch within the Ministry of Community Safety.
Within a results-based environmental management system encouraging innovation and providing the public and clients flexibility in achieving desired environmental outcomes, this position is responsible for strategic planning, program development and evaluation, capital management and management of professional resources and environmental compliance and enforcement staff in the respective compliance areas. The manager will demonstrate the ability to lead a team by providing clear direction and establishing work plans aligned with ministry goals and objectives.
This position creates, develops, leads, and manages public involvement processes and relationships with stakeholders, communities, and organizations to ensure the protection, conservation, maintenance and stewardship of healthy ecosystems, facilitates public understanding of resource management processes, and reduces conflicts between human social economic needs and sustainable renewable resources.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a confident and driven individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to fill the position of Compliance Manager in PPS.
As a member of the Provincial Protection and Response Team, you will aid in the reduction of crime in Saskatchewan by personally responding to 911 calls when RCMP or Municipal Police agencies are unavailable or when you could provide the fastest first response. You will take direct enforcement action during crimes in progress and will provide assistance and support to police agencies as requested.
Travel is required for this position. Candidates will be required to work alone, travel to remote locations, and operate 4x4 trucks, boats, all-terrain vehicles, and snowmobiles as well as occasionally travel in small aircraft. The successful candidate must maintain current Use of Force qualifications and re-certify annually.

Successful candidates will have:
- An understanding of results-based environmental management;
- Resource and environmental protection policies and procedures including legislation;
- An understanding of law enforcement and compliance principles and processes to ensure balanced, sustainable program delivery;
- Knowledge of emerging trends in ecosystem-based management practices, ecological systems, and natural resource management functions;
- as well as in-depth knowledge related to human behaviour, conflict management, and cross-cultural interactions in enforcement and compliance situations will be critical to the success of this position; and
- maintain current Use of Force qualifications and re-certify annually.
Candidates must clearly indicate in their cover letter or résumé where they have acquired their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience. Selection of candidates to be interviewed will be made based on this information.
The successful candidate must be currently appointed as Canadian Provincial Conservation Officer; equivalencies will be considered and will be required to pass a psychological personality assessment to determine suitability for law enforcement.

Typically, requirements for this position involve:
- Completion of a Bachelor of Applied Science;
- Conservation Enforcement degree or a diploma in Integrated Resource Management and Environmental Law Enforcement as well as significant demonstrated recent related experience in a resource law enforcement and supervisory role;
- Successful completion of the Western Conservation Law Enforcement Academy (WCLEA) program or an acceptable equivalent combination of education; and
