GN Systems Inc. is currently hiring an energetic, self-motivated, and customer service-oriented Telecommunications Field Service & Security Alarm System Technicians (Independent Contractors) for TELUS across the Lower Mainland, BC.

This is a full-time, permanent contractor opportunity with multiple openings and the ability to work across various product lines.

Please note: This role is based in the Lower Mainland,BC and requires travel to multiple service locations throughout the region.

The selected candidate will install, diagnose, and maintain fiber optic networks (Internet, Phone, TV), Security alarm systems, and associated components, as well as be customer-focused, responsible, results orientated, energetic, self-motivated and provide a positive customer experience every time. This position requires you to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays depending on business requirements.

What you'll be doing:

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair TELUS Home Services, including Home Phone, High-Speed Internet, IPTV, and Smart Home Security systems
• Promote and sell TELUS products and services during service visits
• Earn additional commission-based income through successful sales
• Troubleshooting Copper and Fiber Networks
• Installing data and voice cabling (Cat5e & Cat 6)
• Dispatch from your home location to customer homes using apps on tablet/telephone
• Installing copper and fiber aerial drops from the pole and attaching them to the house
• Install, and troubleshoot Security Alarm System and CCTV
• Working with Qolsys, 2GIG, Simon, Honeywell, and DSC alarm panels
• Ability to distinguish colours
• Ability to climb ladders at least 28' high
• Own reliable vehicle
• Proof of contractor insurance
• Proof of Workers Compensation (Work Safe) clearance
• Must supply your own tools, ladders, white work VAN
• Crimp and terminate Cat5e RJ45 connector
• Strong command of the English language – both spoken & written
• Neat appearance and good customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and offer assistance if required to other technicians
• Ability to accommodate a variety of assignments at various locations
• Maintain a valid driver’s license
• Physically fit, including the ability to lift heavy objects, tools and climb a ladder
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Desired Skills

• Prior experience in telecommunications or a related field
• Previous experience with TELUS, Shaw, or similar experience with another service providers is an asset
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs as part of daily field work
• The above-mentioned position(s) can be physically challenging as you will be climbing and working from ladders, in some cases in excess of 30 feet
• Good understanding of Computers and Android apps
• Must have a Smart Phone (Android) for work purposes
• Installing, troubleshooting, and servicing home internet systems/products in customer’s home
• You will interact with consumers daily and should be comfortable and able to effectively communicate/train customers
• Current Fall Protection, ladder safety & WHIMS certification, Working at Heights training, liability insurance (contractors only) and Workers Compensation (contractors only)

Responsibilities

• Comfortable using handheld tools and working at heights
• Maintaining a stock of all parts, supplies, and equipment
• You will be exposed to a variety of weather elements, including heat, cold, wind, and rain
• Installation, termination, & testing of Cat5e cable
• Follow safe drilling practices
• Willing to work flexible schedules, including daytime, evenings, weekends & overtime
• Follow safe work practices
• Willing to travel

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
