About the roleThe Lead Firefighter is a key member of the airport fire and rescue team, responsible for responding to aircraft emergencies, fuel incidents, dangerous goods situations, and domestic fires. The role ensures rapid response times as mandated by regulatory authorities and maintains the readiness of fire and rescue equipment.Key responsibilitiesRespond to aircraft emergencies using Crash Fire Tenders, achieving stipulated response times.Handle fuel spillage, dangerous goods, and standby duties with appropriate fire tenders.Combat domestic, grass, and bush fires affecting airport buildings and facilities.Conduct daily inspections of fire vehicles for roadworthiness and serviceability, reporting defects promptly.Supervise breathing‑apparatus cylinder filling in line with regulations and manufacturer guidelines.Organise and lead squad drills and routine training sessions, maintaining accurate training records.Perform routine radio communication tests with the ARFF Watch Tower and ATC, documenting results.Required profileMinimum education of 10+2 with basic training in Airport Rescue and Firefighting.Fluent English to understand operational commands and training material.Ability to work effectively within a team of firefighters and coordinate with airport operational units.No budgetary or direct‑report responsibilities.Required skillsOperation of Crash Fire Tenders.Operation of Domestic Fire Tenders.Breathing Apparatus Cylinder filling.Radio communication testing and documentation.Fire vehicle inspection and maintenance.
