Job description
About the Company:
General Matter enriches uranium.
We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US.
In the process, we are restoring America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive.
Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way.
Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society.
We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms.
Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.
We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.
Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.
About the Role:
General Matter is hiring a tenacious Technical Recruiter excited to build high-caliber teams and serve as a strategic partner in shaping our talent strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a lean, high-impact recruiting team supporting interdisciplinary roles across the organization, including hardware engineering, construction, manufacturing, nuclear engineering, supply chain, and more. You will own the full recruitment lifecycle, from intake and sourcing to screening and closing exceptional talent.
We are building a team that has not only launched products, but launched entire industries across nuclear, space, defense, and finance.
The team is highly collaborative, operates with integrity, and is deeply committed to bringing nuclear fuel enrichment back to US soil. If you enjoy Skunkworks style projects, value autonomy and ownership, and are passionate about building world-class teams, we'd love to hear from you.
We are open to multiple experience levels for the role. We care about capability, drive, and impact more than years of experience. Scope and responsibility will commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process for technical and operational roles, from intake to closing.
- Act as a key business partner to leaders and hiring managers by providing market insights, rapidly calibrating on top talent, and refining interview processes to drive successful hiring outcomes.
- Conduct thorough initial interviews that assess ability, excellence, and cultural alignment while delivering a positive candidate experience and strong interview-to-offer outcomes.
- Design and execute sourcing strategies that extend beyond Boolean searches to include events, networking, and other creative approaches to reach outstanding talent.
- Deliver exceptional candidate experiences across the interview process that reflects General Matter's mission, culture, and high-performance culture.
- Track and analyze recruiting metrics to continuously refine processes and drive operational excellence.
- Maintain applicant tracking system accuracy and cleanliness to improve reporting quality and recruiting efficiency.
- Wear many hats across the recruiting function, from managing university recruitment initiatives and coordinating onsite interviews to process improvement projects as we scale.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of recruiting experience (academic, internships, and extracurriculars at university level qualify) or associate degree and 2+ years of experience; or 3+ years of professional experience as a recruiter in lieu of a degree.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and clearly articulate value to both candidates and hiring teams.
- Proven ability to manage and execute multiple competing priorities with autonomy.
- Holds a high bar for personal accountability and performance, consistently delivering quality results with speed, ownership, and attention to detail.
- Strong judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information and advising on hiring decisions.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience recruiting technical talent such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, and/or software engineers.
- Full lifecycle recruiting experience, from sourcing to closing.
- Proven success hiring for highly specialized or niche roles such as building architects, chemical engineers, nuclear licensing engineers, or other technical experts.
- Ability to distinguish between the top 50% and the top 5% of talent within their respective fields.
- Demonstrated expertise in non-standard recruiting methods: cold calling candidates and companies, organizing and executing ad hoc networking events, identifying industry experts, creating unique targeted sourcing campaigns, etc.
- Deeply motivated by General Matter’s mission to restore U.S. fuel enrichment capabilities and strengthen national energy security.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- This position is based in Los Angeles, and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be considered.
