Job description
About the Company
General Matter enriches uranium.
We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US.
In the process, we are restoring America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive.
Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way.
Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society.
We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms.
Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.
We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.
Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.

The Test Team is responsible for development, qualification, and acceptance testing of all hardware products at General Matter. We create and maintain the infrastructure and standards to support rapid hardware development.
About This Role
As a Development Fabrication Technician, you build the physical test infrastructure the team depends on: test stands, fluid systems, fixtures, ground support equipment, and test articles. This hands-on role provides critical feedback to engineers and ensures quality hardware is built even in a fast-moving development environment. Your primary output is fabrication, but you'll also support test article assembly and, as your skills allow, test execution alongside the engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble test stands, fixtures, support equipment, and test articles from engineering drawings and concept sketches
- Weld (TIG/MIG) per drawings and applicable codes - prep, fit, tack, finish, and inspect weldments
- Bend, route, fit, and install tube and fluid-system hardware including fittings, flex lines, and supports - pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic
- Machine and modify parts (manual mill/lathe, drilling, and/or CNC) for fixtures, adapters, and tooling
- Perform precision mechanical assembly - fastener install, torque, alignment, and rigging of test hardware
- Read and build from engineering drawings, GD&T, and fluid/electrical schematics
- Maintain shop equipment, tooling, and consumables; keep a safe, organized, FOD-controlled work area
- Feed design-for-manufacturability and tooling improvements back to engineering
- Support test setup and execution
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years in technician or development support role
- Demonstrated proficiency with hand and power tools and at least one core fabrication discipline (welding, machining, fluid-system fabrication, structural and mechanical assembly, electrical build)
- Ability to read and build from engineering drawings and GD&T
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience fabricating test stands, support equipment, or pressurized/vacuum fluid systems in an Aerospace/automotive environment
- Familiarity with test instrumentation.
- Knowledge of Lean/Kaizen principles.
- Cross-functional assembly experience.
- Familiarity with cleanliness and quality requirements for flight, nuclear, or other high-reliability hardware
Additional Requirements
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and/or weekends as needed.
