Important: This position requires a four-day, 10-hour work schedule with shifts ranging from Tuesday through Friday and including Saturdays. Standard weekday hours are 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM, while Saturday hours are 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM including a pay shift differential. Summary The Accessioner I is responsible for the receiving and accessioning of all patient specimens, and following established policies and procedures, in a professional manner. Job Responsibilities <ul> <li>Learns and follows the established standard operating procedures for sample handling and record keeping.</li> <li>Receives and triages patient specimens.</li> <li>Assigns each specimen an accession number and creates a patient chart.</li> <li>Enters patient information into LIMS database, with strict adherence to HIPPA laws.</li> <li>Transports all accessioned specimens to the DNA extraction team and/or cell culture team, as appropriate.</li> <li>Label patient documents with barcode for later scanning of patient charts through OnBase.</li> <li>Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance, takes authorized corrective action, and notifies key individuals.</li> <li>Adhere to quality control policies and documents all quality control activities.</li> <li>Additional duties maybe assigned.</li> </ul> Education, Experience, and Skills <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent is required.  <ul> <li>AS or BS degree in chemistry, biology, or related science field preferred.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Strong computer and typing skills (a Typing Test will be required).</li> <li>Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.</li> <li>Ability to work well independently and within a team.</li> <li>Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment.</li> <li>Data Entry experience preferred.</li> </ul> Physical Demands <ul> <li>Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.</li> </ul> Work Environment  <ul> <li>Work is primarily performed in an office setting with a typical climate-controlled environment.</li> <li>Occasional exposure to manufacturing or warehouse areas, which may involve loud noises, dust, and varying temperatures.</li> </ul>      <div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">Pay Transparency, Budgeted Range</div><div class="pay-range">$18.50—$18.50 USD</div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion">~ Science - Minded, Patient - Focused.  At GeneDx, we create, follow, and are informed by cutting-edge science.
