- Schedule: MON - THU 9AM to 5PM; FRI 9AM to 1PM; SUN 1PM – 5PM

About The Role
MINING.COM is seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Assistant Editor to join our growing editorial team in Toronto.
This role is ideal for a journalist, communications professional, or recent graduate looking to build a career in a fast-paced digital newsroom. The successful candidate will work closely with editors and reports to support the day-to-day operations of a modern digital news organization, produce original content, manage publishing workflows and contribute to audience growth initiatives.

We'll Trust You To ... (Responsibilities)
- Editorial Support
- Syndicate articles from wire services, contributors, and editorial submissions.
- Rewrite and adapt syndicated content for publication across digital platforms.
- Produce news stories based on press releases, interviews, studies, company announcements, and other source materials.
- Assist editors with daily content production, publishing, and editorial workflows.
- Create original news content and contribute to ongoing editorial coverage.
- Ensure all content meets editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, and style.
- Support fact-checking, headline writing, copy editing, and content optimization efforts.
- Newsletter Production
- Assemble, curate, and distribute daily and biweekly newsletters.
- Select and organize content for newsletter publication.
- Assist with newsletter layout, production, and scheduling.
- Monitor newsletter performance metrics and support audience engagement initiatives.
- Editorial Operations
- Monitor syndicated news feeds, industry developments, and editorial sources.
- Assist with content management, digital publishing and asset organization.
- Support special editorial, multimedia initiatives, and company-wide content programs.
- Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and business development teams to maximize content reach and impact.
- Innovation & Technology
- Utilize AI- powered tools to improve editorial efficiency research, content production, and workflow management.
- Assist with data visualization, multimedia storytelling, and emerging digital publishing initiatives.
- Stay informed on new technologies and best practices shaping modern journalism.
Qualifications
You'll need to be/have:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, Business, Finance, Earth Science, Mining, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous journalism, communications, editorial, content creation, publishing, or related experience is required.
- Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Tech-savvy with an aptitude for learning and leveraging new digital and AI-powered tools to enhance productivity and editorial workflows.
- Proficiency with WordPress or similar content management systems is an asset.
- Familiarity with newsletter platforms such as FeedOtter or similar email marketing tools is an asset.
- Understanding of business, financial, commodity, or resource-sector reporting is an asset.
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the mining industry and commodity markets is an asset.
- Willingness to work on-site at the downtown Toronto office.
