Role Description

This is an hourly role based in Burke, VA. The Farmers Market Compost Transport team member will be tasked with setting up and breaking down compost drop off locations at the markets, ensuring proper handling and transportation. Responsibilities include maintaining compost quality standards, coordinating with market managers and participating vendors, and assisting in compost processing at our urban farm site. The role will require efficient scheduling, safe driving practices, familiarity and comfortability wuth driving a trailer, and a commitment to sustainability efforts. Estimated 30-40 hrs per week.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to lift and transport compost bins and materials efficiently onto a trailer
• Strong organizational and time-management skills for scheduling pickups and deliveries
• Basic understanding or willingness to learn proper composting practices
• Driver’s license with a clean driving record and comfort navigating urban areas
• Interest in sustainability, urban farming, or environmental initiatives
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, for market operations
• Previous experience in driving or facilities operations is a plus but not required
