Job Description

We're looking for a seasoned AWS DevOps Engineer to modernize and streamline our delivery pipeline for a complex web product.

Our goal is reliable

daily production deployments by implementing robust CI/CD, zero-downtime deployment strategies, shift-left QA automation, integrated security scanning, and feature-flag based releases.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines on AWS (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy).
  • Implement blue/green (or canary) deployments with fast rollback for critical services.
  • Integrate automated smoke, regression, API, and UI tests into PR/commit workflows with quality gates.
  • Integrate SAST (and optionally DAST) into CI/CD (SonarQube, Snyk, GitHub Advanced Security, etc.).
  • Implement and operationalize feature flags (LaunchDarkly, Unleash, or similar) to decouple deploy from release.
  • Improve deployment frequency and reduce lead time in collaboration with dev + QA teams.
  • Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting across environments (CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, etc.).
  • Document standards, runbooks, and best practices for engineering and QA.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on AWS production experience (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM).
  • Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines with automated tests, approvals, and quality/security gates.
  • Experience with blue/green or canary deployments using AWS services or related tooling.
  • Familiarity with QA automation integration and test orchestration in pipelines.
  • Practical SAST integration experience (SonarQube, Snyk, GHAS, etc.).
  • Experience using feature flags in production environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform preferred; CloudFormation ok).
  • Scripting skills (Python/Bash) and strong written communication.

Success Outcomes

  • Reduce deployment time from manual/lengthy processes to a few hours end-to-end.
  • Enable safe, repeatable

daily production deployments with clear quality and security gates.

  • Establish reusable patterns (pipelines, IaC modules, feature flag strategy, observability) across services.

Environment

AWS-hosted web application; tooling is flexible based on your recommendations.

What to Include in Your Proposal

  • 2–3 examples of similar AWS DevOps projects (CI/CD + blue/green/canary + feature flags).
  • How you increased deployment frequency and reduced lead time in prior work.
  • High-level plan covering: current-state assessment → CI/CD + tests + SAST → deployment strategy rollout → feature flags → monitoring/runbooks.
  • Preferred AWS toolset and an estimated timeline/milestones to reach daily deploy capability.

Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.

Mandatory skills:

CI/CD, Deployment Automation, Docker, Amazon Web Services, Kubernetes, CI/CD Platform, DevOps, Application Release Automation, Git, macOS
