Job Description
As a DevOps Engineer within the Ford ADAS DevOps Team, you will play a critical role in enabling scalable, reliable, and secure development pipelines that support ADAS vehicle software and tooling. This role has a strong emphasis on CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions, large-scale C/C++ build systems (Bazel), and DevOps platform engineering to support safety-critical ADAS development.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate enterprise-scale CI/CD platforms supporting ADAS software development.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize GitHub Actions workflows for C/C++, Python, and multi-language build pipelines.
- Support and improve Bazel-based build systems, including build performance, caching, and CI integration.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Build, maintain, and deploy Docker containers and support Kubernetes-based workloads.
- Partner with software engineers to integrate CI/CD best practices into C/C++ development workflows.
- Improve reliability and observability of CI/CD systems through monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional ADAS teams to remove DevOps, build, and infrastructure bottlenecks.
- Implement secure CI/CD practices including secrets management, artifact signing, and access controls.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
- Hands-on, production experience with GitHub Actions for building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- 2+ years of experience with Docker-based containerization.
- 2+ years of experience with Linux fundamentals
- 2+ years of experience with scripting Python
- 2+ years of experience working with C and/or C++ codebases and build tooling.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across diverse engineering teams.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for large mono-repos or multi-repo environments.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Strong experience supporting Bazel build systems in CI environments.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes deployments and operational patterns.
- Experience with build optimization techniques such as remote caching and parallelization in Bazel.
- Familiarity with backend services or APIs built in Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
- Experience implementing CI/CD observability, metrics, and alerting.
- Experience operating workloads on public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Interest or familiarity with ADAS, embedded systems, robotics, or autonomous vehicle software.
Nice to Have
- Experience with self-hosted GitHub Actions runners.
- Exposure to SRE practices and reliability engineering.
- Experience supporting ML or data-intensive CI workflows.
