Job Description
As a Certified Coding Specialist at Firstsource, you will be responsible for evaluating and managing Evaluation & Management (E&M) as well as Surgery Coding. Your role will involve the following key responsibilities:
- Graduation in any Life sciences field such as Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Nursing, or Biosciences with Anatomy/physiology as a subject.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained before hire or job transfer. All specialties accepted.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained before hire or job transfer.
Requirements
- Experience in E&M Specialty Coding including Outpatient, Inpatient, Surgery Coding, observation, Critical care facilities using ICD, Modifiers, CPT, HCPCS codes.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in E&M or Surgery Coding for inpatient and/or outpatient medical record review, coding, and reimbursement. Coding audit experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT coding, prospective payment systems, and proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Office applications.
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision, communicate clearly both written and verbally, generate reports for management review, meet deadlines, and adapt to frequent changes in regulations.
- Maintain positive relationships with internal and external teams and customers, work independently, and be a self-starter.

- Contribute to the development of educational and training opportunities for staff along with Coding Supervisors and Coding Manager.
- Create update tracker and keep the team informed about trends and changes.
- Provide feedback and coaching on common error scenarios.
- Review claims denied/rejected for coding, documentation, and clinical validation.
- Prepare reports for management review, identify trends, and conduct audits of individual coders.
