We are currently hiring a US Mortgage Underwriting Analyst with 3–6 years of experience to support a leading U.S.-based mortgage lending client. This role offers strong exposure to credit risk assessment, residential real estate underwriting, and structured lending decision-making.

As a US Mortgage Underwriting Analyst, you will serve as an embedded partner working closely with credit teams, processing, closing, and senior underwriting stakeholders. You will not just review files — you will contribute to risk evaluation, credit decisioning, and portfolio quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will perform end-to-end underwriting for U.S. mortgage loan products, including both short-term (12-month) and long-term (30-year) lending structures.
  • You will review and analyze residential real estate assets, assessing borrower profiles and collateral quality to support credit decisions.
  • You will examine and evaluate comprehensive underwriting documentation, including credit reports, background checks, loan applications, financial statements, and borrower/entity documentation.
  • You will review processing and closing documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with underwriting standards.
  • You will apply strong knowledge of real estate underwriting principles, including property valuation, purchase and sale transactions, and due diligence processes.
  • You will interpret property appraisal reports, insurance policies, and title documentation, ensuring alignment with lending and risk guidelines.
  • You will support underwriting for construction lending scenarios, including renovations and ground-up development projects.
  • You will collaborate with internal teams to gather additional information, quote rates, present underwriting cases, and explain policy guidelines.
  • You will validate market comparables, including rental values and property sale benchmarks, to support accurate asset valuation.
  • You will stay updated on loan product guidelines, underwriting frameworks, and risk assessment tools, ensuring consistent application in decision-making.
  • You will assess overall credit risk and present underwriting recommendations to senior management for approval, supporting high-quality portfolio outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3–6 years of experience in US mortgage underwriting or credit risk analysis
  • Strong understanding of residential mortgage products and underwriting guidelines
  • Experience reviewing credit reports, financial statements, and borrower documentation
  • Knowledge of property valuation, appraisal analysis, and title/escrow processes
  • Familiarity with construction lending and real estate transaction workflows preferred
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills in credit risk assessment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field

WHAT MAKES YOU A STRONG FIT

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate borrower risk and asset quality
  • Ownership-driven approach to underwriting accuracy and decision integrity
  • Sound business judgment in applying credit policies and lending guidelines
